Our farmer is Zaid Kurdieh, from Norwich Meadows, a USDA and NOFA certified farm located upstate NY. Besides serving other CSAs, he serves star chefs like Bobby Flay and Mario Batali, and attends the Union Square and Tompkins Square Markets in the East Village among others.

Red Jacket Orchards provides most of our fruits except for melons and watermelons, that come from Norwich Meadows. In respect to the environment, Red Jacket employs Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices and is certified by Food Alliance as a sustainable producer of plums, apricots, and prunes. Red Orchard has received a Zagat Excellence Award at the New York City Food Lover’s Guide, 2010.

The dairy products come from Evans Farmhouse Creamery and the honey from Kutik’s Honey Farm, a small Norwich farm that has been producing honey for over 30 years. Evans Farmhouse is a family owned and operated, USDA certified organic creamery located in Norwich. The milk and yogurt we offer is made in their on-farm creamery using milk from thier 75 organically raised, pasture-fed Jersey cows. Their Hillside grass diet is supplemented with non-GMO certified organic grain, hay, baylage, and haylage throughout the year.

Each week our farmers bring seasonal items. We also get unexpected items, and extra amounts. On a good year, such as this, farmers share with CSAs the bounty, as a token for our support through the season. But occasionally, and due to unforeseen reasons, certain produce may not be available and is replaced—whenever possible—by a similar item.

We know everyone at the farm works hard to bring us the freshest produce every week, and are grateful for their commitment. We certainly hope you enjoy the harvest as much as we do!
